Role of the Sales Associate

What This Job Really Is
If you’re reading this, you are either new to the Sales Associate role or you want to better understand what success in this position actually looks like.
This post exists to clearly explain the role, responsibilities, and expectations of a Sales Associate at StretchZone—in real language, not just job-description language.
First, the Big Picture
As a Sales Associate (SA), you are the face of StretchZone.
You are often the first person a guest interacts with and the person they rely on most as they decide whether StretchZone is right for them. Your role is essential to both the financial health of the studio and the experience of our members.
Sales Associates do not “just sell.”
They guide, educate, support, and follow through.
The Primary Responsibility: Membership Sales
First and foremost, the Sales Associate is responsible for driving membership sales.
That includes:
Booking and conducting sales demos (intakes and recaps)
Explaining the value of practitioner-assisted stretching
Presenting membership options clearly and confidently
Helping guests choose the right path forward
Assisting with contracts and onboarding into membership
Sales at StretchZone are about helping people commit to their health—not convincing them of something they don’t need.
Customer Experience & Service
Sales Associates are responsible for delivering excellent customer service every day.
This includes:
Greeting every guest warmly when they arrive, by name
Answering phones professionally and responding to messages quickly
Scheduling appointments accurately
Helping members download and use the StretchZone app
Assisting members with scheduling and account questions
Handling small account issues and basic escalations
Knowing when and how to escalate larger issues appropriately
Members should feel supported, informed, and cared for—not rushed or dismissed.
Follow-Up & Retention Work
Sales doesn’t end when someone signs up.
Sales Associates play a key role in retention and follow-through, including:
Follow-up calls and messages after demos
Lost sheep calls to reconnect with guests who haven’t scheduled
Checking in with new members during onboarding and completing New Member Onboarding tasks
Encouraging consistent attendance and rebooking
Supporting member confidence and comfort in the process
Consistency here directly impacts studio success.
Outreach, Marketing & Lead Generation
Sales Associates are expected to actively contribute to lead generation and outreach, including:
Outbound lead follow-up calls
Event sourcing and participation
Community outreach
Business-to-business partnerships
Social media content and engagement (fun!)
Supporting studio marketing initiatives
Everyone contributes to growth. Sales is not passive.
Culture & Team Contribution
Sales Associates help protect and strengthen the culture of StretchZone.
That means:
Showing up on time and prepared
Supporting teammates
Maintaining a positive, professional attitude
Reinforcing a strong sales culture
Treating clients and coworkers with respect
Following SOPs and studio standards
Encouraging other team members and celebrating their successes
Culture is built in small, daily behaviors.
What Success Looks Like in This Role
A successful Sales Associate:
Confidently connects with members and guests
Believes in the value of the service
Tracks performance and understands KPIs
Follows through consistently
Takes feedback seriously
Is coachable and eager to improve
Contributes to studio and team growth and energy
Sales experience helps—but commitment, reliability, and effort matter more.
Accountability & Growth
This role comes with real responsibility.
Sales Associates are expected to:
Follow attendance and reliability standards
Meet sales and performance expectations
Participate in training and coaching
Take ownership of improvement
Support is always available—but "ownership"of results is expected.
Final Thought
The Sales Associate role is an opportunity to:
Learn valuable sales and communication skills
Understand how a business operates
Grow professionally
Make a real impact on people’s lives
If you take this role seriously, it will 'stretch' you—in the best way.
Ask questions.
Practice your skills.
Follow through.
And take pride in the work you do here.
That’s how great Sales Associates are built.
